Under The Roofs Of Paris

Under The Roofs Of Paris foregrounds the infectious singing of Albert the street singer (Albert Préjean) and idealizes the life of lower-class Parisians and their apartments. Albert loves the Romanian immigrant Pola (Pola Illery), who is craved by the criminal Fred (Gaston Modot). Albert is arrested for a crime associated with the villain and while he is in jail Pola hooks up with Albert’s best friend Louis (Edmond Gréville). When Albert is released he must confront the criminal and choose between love and friendship.
